Thank you to Darlene O'Connell for our first Happy Tail about a BARKS cat, her kitty Ichabod!
Ichabod was an abandoned older cat. Since he is part Persian his fur was matted beyond belief. He was found in Hampton scrounging morsels from the trash to survive. Ticks and fleas were having a field day on this poor homeless soul. A wonderful BARKS volunteer rescued this, once owned, all black, gold eyed beauty. BARKS took him in, had him shaved, cleaned up of fleas/ticks, vaccinated, altered and micro chipped. This little boy looked so skinny with no fur. His foster Mom brought him faithfully to adoption days. People looked, snickered and moved on. This wonderful animal was passed over for younger kittens and cats because he was 6. His lucky day came when one of the BARKS volunteers, who has a weakness for the Persian breed, fell in love with him and took him to his forever home. Icky now lives happily ever after in a volunteer’s home where he is brushed regularly, taken to the vet annually and whenever needed. He get snacks nightly with his other 5 siblings and the other fosters that reside at this private residence. Icky as he is affectionately called loves to eat, play, be brushed and of course sleep, especially on the bed. He is a delight to his people and we think we complete his life. We know he is spoiled, all he has to do is look at us with those large, gold endearing eyes and we melt.
